Esslingen University of Applied Sciences
Founded in Stuttgart in 1868, the Royal Württemberg School of Mechanical Engineering was relocated to the neighboring town of Esslingen in 1914, where approximately 600 young people studied. In 1938, the School of Mechanical Engineering was renamed the Esslingen State Engineering School. In 1971, the German engineering schools developed into universities of applied sciences. In the course of internationalization at German universities, corresponding efforts at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences led to the introduction of the first English-language masters program in 1998 and the establishment of the Graduate School, which combines the English-language postgraduate programs (Master of Business Administration and Master of Science).
As of October 1, 2006, the universities of applied sciences in Esslingen—the University of Applied Sciences (FHTE) and the University of Social Sciences (HfS)—merged to form Esslingen University of Applied Sciences. At the time of the merger, Esslingen University of Applied Sciences had a total of 7 faculties, 20 undergraduate bachelors degree programs, and 10 masters degree programs. There is a cooperation agreement with Esslingen University of Applied Sciences covering:
- Teaching assignments
- Vacation courses
- Theses
- Student research projects

University of Tübingen
In 1477, Eberhard im Bart, Count and later Duke of Württemberg, made his mark with the far-sighted founding of the University of Tübingen, to which it remains committed to this day. Eberhard Karls University shapes the intellectual life of the state and contributes to its development with its internationally recognized scientific achievements.
The university’s current official name, “Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen” was only bestowed upon it in 1769 by Duke Karl Eugen, who added his name to that of the founder.
At the beginning of the 19th century, Eberhard Karls University experienced an impressive scientific upswing and became known beyond the borders of Württemberg thanks to its distinguished professors. After a Catholic theology faculty and a public economics faculty were added to the four founding faculties in 1817, Tübingen became the first German university to have its own natural sciences faculty in 1863. The first university hospital was established in 1805 in the Alte Burse, the oldest building of the university still in use today (built in 1478).
A sense of tradition and cosmopolitanism alike define the character of the university and its members.
